When you use GemSight, we collect:
- Account information: Email address and password (stored securely via Supabase)
- Payment information: Billing details processed by Stripe — we never store your card number
- Images you upload: Photos of rocks, crystals, or minerals submitted for identification
- Usage data: Number of analyses performed, timestamps, and general usage patterns
2. How We Use Your Data
- To authenticate your account and manage your membership
- To process subscription payments via Stripe
- To send your uploaded images to the Anthropic AI API for gem identification
- To provide and improve the GemSight service
- To send transactional emails (receipts, subscription confirmations)
We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.
3. Images You Upload
Photos you submit are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI API solely to generate identification results. Images are transmitted over encrypted connections and are not stored permanently by GemSight or shared with any other third party. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy.
4. Third-Party Services
GemSight uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:
- Supabase — user authentication and account data storage (Privacy Policy)
- Stripe — payment processing (Privacy Policy)
- Anthropic — AI-powered gem identification (Privacy Policy)
- Vercel — web hosting (Privacy Policy)
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your membership is active. If you cancel and request deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law (e.g., payment records for tax purposes).
6. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe and never touches our servers.
7. Your Rights
You may at any time:
- Request a copy of your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Cancel your subscription via account settings

8. Cookies
GemSight uses session cookies for authentication only. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
9. Children's Privacy
GemSight is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify active members of material changes by email. Continued use of GemSight constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
